3v3 is coming to UK grassroots football

From September 2026 the way our kids will play football is changing. The FA have introduced the Future Fit framework for youth football in the UK.

Commencing at the start of the 2026-27 season, games will change to a 3 versus 3 game situation from under 7s age groups.

What else will happen:

  • The goal posts will be made smaller, at 4ft x 2.5ft size
  • The pitches will be made smaller

The benefits will be that players will get more touches of the football and gain more exposure to a faster paced game situation.
